Squeaky Hamster

I found this tiny, squeaky, plush hamster on the subway many years ago. I have no idea if this was part of a larger set of toys or what it was called. Was it one of a cast of many characters? It still makes me happy to see the little fella and to give him a little squeeze to hear him squeak.
