4″ x 7″, ink, watercolour & guache
The Homemade Caramel Turtles are the first round of goodies that I made as gifts for my former co-workers and friends. They’re made from mini pretzels with three melted mini Rolos and a pecan pressed on top.
Every December, for the past four years, I’ve met my group of friends for a holiday dinner out. We all worked for a medium-sized software company. In fact, one of them still does. Due to the unpredictable nature of my working life, I have been on the hunt for a steady job since early November. Hence, the homemade goodies and not anything store bought from me again for the second year in a row.

5″ x 8″, pen & marie’s watercolours
A small framed illustration by Jean-Philippe Delhomme that I’ve had for years. Not an original, though. Just a small clipping from a very old French fashion magazine. The same image flipped horizontally was used in one of my favourite ad campaigns for Barney’s. The caption for that ad read:
“Sometimes your apartment is your atelier.”
I had just graduated from art college around the time I collected the clipping and really connected with the illustration and the caption. The small space I called my own within my shared apartment was used for creating my own personal art as well as freelance scale site models of interiors.

5″ x 8″, pen, watercolour & pencil crayon
This is the collection of stuffed animals and monsters that I used to have sitting on the back of my couch. They sat there for years and through four cat sitting adventures until just a few months ago. They now sit in storage on a shelf in our linen cupboard.
The two animals are Scary Stories pets and the two monsters are Uglydolls. The largest Uglydoll is Tray, which I got for free when I attended my first Giant Robot Magazine party in Toronto.
