9.5″ x 5″, brush pen, watercolour and gauche
This vase was a gift from my friend Todd. The vase was made in England and I think it may date from the 30s. Currently it holds my two ink pens and a cell phone bell charm, which was a gift from our friend Alex when he was in L.A. The body of the vase is a bit wonky because I’m still getting used to rendering with a brush pen. It makes my husband nervous when I use my ink pens with bottled ink – I had one small spillage accident a while ago.

This is one of the pack of three pretzels purchased from the North St. Lawrence Market/Farmer’s Market. They were deliciously chewy with little chunks of salt. We ate them with Kozlik’s Sweet Rusian Mustard from the main St. Lawrence Market.

pen (leaky) & watercolour
This was the leaky culprit responsible for ruining one of my sketches. For some reason the pressurized ink cartridge makes the ink blob out from the end of the pen. I use this pen very carefully and with an old rag held in the other hand to catch the said blobs of ink.

One of the bran muffins from a batch I made using the recipe by Nancy Silverton posted on David Lebovitz’s site. They were incredibly moist and flavourful. Almost too moist, but I let them set after baking and they firmed up to just the right texture.

A quick sketch of our kettle at home. It has covered heating elements and a stainless steel finish.
